Emerson DeltaV footprint and engagement scope across AstraZeneca manufacturing sites.
Across the Sweden project, DTG and Emerson had multiple touchpoints. Emerson served as both the software and hardware provider and the system integrator. DTG operated as an extension of the AstraZeneca team, supporting them in the design of the system and representing their interests throughout.
Rather than relying on reactive escalation when issues arise, DTG recommends establishing routine, proactive engagement between DTG and Emerson from the outset of any new site engagement. A structured working relationship — with regular touchpoints and agreed escalation paths — will deliver better outcomes for AstraZeneca and reduce friction for all parties.
DTG has been supporting AstraZeneca Singapore through concept and basic design and is now competitively bidding for the detailed design and execution phase. It is DTG's understanding that Emerson will also be involved in this next phase. With both parties likely to be present, the question is how DTG and Emerson can best structure their working relationship to deliver the best outcome for AstraZeneca.
Assuming both DTG and Emerson are successful in securing roles on this project — how do we structure our collaboration from the outset to support each other effectively and avoid the reactive dynamics seen in Sweden?
As DTG and Emerson find themselves working together across an increasing number of AstraZeneca sites — particularly in the US — the question of how to structure a broader collaborative relationship becomes strategically important. How can both organisations support each other in a way that scales, adds value for AZ, and positions DTG and Emerson as natural partners rather than parallel workstreams?
